0:00: Justin and Helen can finally say what they’ve been up to this time! Helen’s been playing Genshin Impact and took time to watch Wolfwalkers during this year’s SCAD Savannah Film Festival, Justin talks a bit about the ICv2 Insider Talks he attended last week.

Pandemic News

7:38: So soon enough we will have Anime NYC, but virtual! As they’ll be partnering with NTWRK for the convention this year.

10:20: Meanwhile, the other anime powered by Crunchyroll, Anime Frontier in Texas, was planned to start in May 2021 after it was delayed due to COVID-19, but they had to delay it again, this time to December 2021.

11:16: Obviously, one of the bigger anime news in the past few weeks is Sony potentially buying Crunchyroll, which Justin and Helen have to talk about since this can have massive ramifications for the anime industry.

14:50: GoHands is back! Well, ok, they’ve been around. However, CLAMP’s Tokyo Babylon is back! This has Helen real concerned.

17:04: Netflix did an anime festival, which, for all of their announcements, there was probably three actually new titles announced during it:

  • Yasuke (Spring 2021)
  • Godzilla Singular Point (Spring 2021, one that Justin is convinced is Gintoki’s twin)
  • B: The Beginning Succession (Spring 2021)
  • Vampire in the Garden (2021)
  • Pacific Rim: The Black (2021)
  • Hanma Baki – Son of Ogre (2021)
  • EDEN (Planned for Fall 2020, will now air May 2021)
  • Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure (2021)
  • Spriggan (2021)
  • Thermae Romae Novae (2021)
  • Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan (2021)
  • High-Rise Invasion (February 2021)
  • Way of the Househusband (2021)

25:12: Netflix is starting another new universe! Though this in partnership with Ubisoft. And it involves Assassin’s Creed. And this on top of their partnerships with anime studios, and it’s clear they’re definitely going for it.

27:13: A first for Nippon TV: they’re creating their own anime department! So their first project will be based off a novel.

28:00: Amazon made an argument regarding anyone purchasing digital products from them is something they don’t actually own. Helen wonders this could set precedence in the US courts.

31:31: Here’s news that happened a few weeks ago…but last episode had enough topics! So the two hosts talk about it now, and that is the growth of the anime industry…and how it reached a new low.

33:39: Boys Love creator Shikke cancelled the 2nd chapter of Pink Heart Jam due to scanlations. Justin and Helen discuss what’s unfortunate and unusual about this one.

37:50: Here’s more news that happened a few weeks ago that Justin and Helen are talking about now, and it involves MANGA Plus, its’ popularity, and what’s doing extremely well.

40:23: In case you’ve hibernating somewhere far without internet, Demon Slayer is a phenomenon. And it continues to do things no manga has ever done in terms of sales. This also extends to the film!

42:55: Mangamo is finally going to be available worldwide (remember, they had…many issues!). They’re also finally going to have an Android app. Maybe things are looking up for them!

43:48: VIZ, and they timed it as the finale of Golden Wind played on Toonami, confirmed they will be releasing Part 5 of the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure manga in summer 2021.

44:41: futekiya announced they’re adding a couple titles this time to their service (Miyu’s A Love to Light the Afterlife & Akebino’s The Puppy Dog Student Can’t Ignore The Two-Faced Waiter); Manga Planet added former JManga title Tsumanuda Fight Town by Michirou Ueyama and Yasuhiro Nakanishi’s A Restaurant of Bliss; and Manga.Club added Chikuhime’s The Hunt — which is another former JManga title — and Ryo Azuki’s Secret Urban Legends. Justin has some explaining to do, where he found that particular manga…in English!…but for Japan!

Streaming News

48:10: Funimation’s adding their first Chinese simulcast: Heaven Official’s Blessing. Justin and Helen talk about this late Fall season addition, and also talk about them streaming the BEM: Become Human film.

50:19: Retrocrush is adding some more new titles to the service, but for Helen, none of them are Story of Saiunkoku:

  • GoShogun: The Time Étranger – November 6
  • Kite: Liberator – November 6
  • Dragon Half – November 13
  • Yamibo – Darkness, the Hat, and the Travelers of the Books – November 13

51:38: It was a given that Crunchyroll would stream the given film!…The hosts think.

Weird News

52:23: We begin the weird news section with something pretty yikes: a freelance voice actor, Chris Thurman, admitted to sending pictures of his junk to minors. Not great!

54:30: For bizarre reasons, October 20 was Shirou day. Helen is just confused as to why him.

56:03: To promote the upcoming video game, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Vinland Saga are crossing over!

57:20: Because it makes all the sense, Princess Syalis is crossing over with FRANCE BED!
