Kiki and Jiji flying in Kiki's Delivery Service

Sometime last year I watched Kiki’s Delivery Service, and it holds a high place on my list of favorite Studio Ghibli and anime films. Starring a girl who aims to become a witch, Kiki’s journey was captivating and enjoyable, and I was very sad to see it end.

Well, what does one do when you finish something great? You go look through the Wikipedia to get more info for some reason. Doing that made me learn — and honestly, I should’ve known this already — that it was based on a children’s novel by Eiko Kadono. Then I learned there were more stories of Kiki too! But we only had the version published by Annick Press over 17 years ago. So knowing that, you pretty much think there’s no way we’re getting more right?

Then, through sheer accident, I found out Delacorte Press (an imprint of Random House Children’s Books) was bringing Kiki back last year!

Kiki's Delivery Service Novel Week

So once I knew that, the idea to do a Kiki’s Delivery Service Novel Week got into my head. And that brings us to today, where TheOASG will be providing coverage of Eiko Kadono’s Kiki’s Delivery Service. You’ll see a review of it, but that’s not gonna be all. There will be a US giveaway for the Hardcover Edition tomorrow (starting at 12PM EST), interviews with the team that localized the novel and Eiko Kadono herself, a few articles involving the fans of Kiki (obviously there are many, but we can only reach out to a few!) and a free excerpt from the novel.

This will be hub for all the articles for Kiki, so feel free to bookmark this, and follow TheOASG this week for complete coverage leading up to its July 7 release!
