The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! Volume 4

I can understand Jahy’s shopping plight, you know. You come in with a game plan, payday arrives, and you think you have extra to spend before buying stuff you really need. So a trip to the store to buy one or two things aside from the usual isn’t the worst thing in the world.

But as it stands on restoring the Dark Realm, buying things like a pineapple cutter or a Hyper Beam ☆ Light Sword DX probably should not be on the list of impulse buys. Even if the store clerks are marketing them very hard and throwing bargains on top of it.

…One day Jahy will learn. One day…

While humbled over many events, The Great Jahy’s ego still remains intact, which means in volume 4, she’s still remains the same. Well, maybe in her brain, but actions speak louder than words. She had to prepare multiple traps before the magical girl shows up at her rinky-dink apartment again (but this only ends up trapping Jahy); she whines about being forced to do work for a human at the drink bar but little does she know her body’s too accustomed to part-time work and she can’t stop smiling at her customers; and she can’t help but impress upon young Kokoro that she is the Dark Realm’s #2, but with little mana crystal power, she can only exert so much effort. (That effort of course, backfires!)

There’s little actual story progression in this series largely, just tales mostly of Jahy saying things she can’t currently back up, but we instead get snippets of a story in little places. We get Jahy following the magical girl all around in order to take back her mana crystal, but despite the heaps of misfortunate that befalls her, nothing phases her. We see Jahy meet up with Druj for a status report on mana crystals, which of course has Jahy selling a pack of lies in a 30 second or 1 minute span. And then of course, we see the end of this volume, which gives us the first look at the Dark Lord.

The Great Dark Lord Can’t Be This Cute!?!?

As always, it’s another volume of Jahy and crew doing wild stuff, none more wilder than the Landlord moving in with Jahy — there’s very little chance this would happen in real life — and none more hilarious when Jahy, The Boss, and the Landlord go to the public bath. Ok, Jahy discovering the appeal of public baths for the first time was amusing. Saurva, however, discovering that Jahy was there, and while attempting to avoid her ends up slipping right onto The Boss’ breasts, and then apparently having a sexual awakening to women, was hilarious. I mean she thought about it the rest of the night, she probably had no idea it could be so pleasant.

…Anyways, a fun, quirky volume, but now looking forward to the eventual implementation of the Dark Lord in the series.
