0:00: Helen and Justin return to talk about what they’ve been up to. Justin can finally report that outside of work, he’s back to watching anime again. Helen is in a different, busier state right now though, but she did find time to binge the rest of The Promised Neverland.

News

9:16: In case you missed it, there was a major situation involving Attack on Titan S3 Part 2 where episodes got leaked by sublicensees. This almost led to it airing from Sundays to Wednesdays, and while Justin meant to add days to his talk instead of hours, the sentiment is there. Hopefully.

13:06: Funimation acquired Manga UK. Krystallina gave her take on it, and the two hosts share theirs.

16:05: The Akira live-action is happening. Both Helen and Justin have some hopes due to the director at least.

17:23: Someone ended up reaching out to Kugane Maruyama regarding a fan translation of one of his works, which leads to Helen and Justin giving their takes on the aftermath of this since he was not happy about it.

20:30: More collaborations between Monkey Punch and DC are coming out, and here’s one with Aquaman.

21:05: Hey remember that DBZ Hollywood film that we never talk about? Well former Dragon Ball editor talked about it, and went over some regrets, which involves having a say in the film.

23:04: Finally, a former AnimeNEXT con chair was suspended after alleged sexual misconduct occurred in 2015, with the convention investigating the situation.

24:23: Seven Seas went and chose a random day to announce the following:

  • Rui Tsukiyo & Hideaki Yoshikawa’s Dungeon Builder: The Demon King’s Labyrinth is a Modern City!
  • Mita Ori’s Our Dining Room
  • Yuu Tanaka’s Reincarnated as a Sword
  • Kunihiko Ikuhara & Isuzu Shibata’s PENGUINDRUM
  • Mikawa Souhei and Ryota-H’s light novel Magic User: Reborn in Another World as a Max Level Wizard

26:35: Yen Press appears to be simulpubbing Kingdom Hearts III, but it’s hard to believe since they at this point haven’t said anything about it.

27:17: TOKYOPOP is bringing over Akashi’s Still Sick manga. This leads to a biased reveal by Justin regarding how we handle TOKYOPOP stuff.

28:44: As discussed in this roundup, Media Do is bringing back ARTE, and bringing over a couple new titles.

31:16: Drawn and Quarterly is definitely bringing over more Kitaro, but they’re also gonna release Yoshiharu Tsuge’s The Swamp in January as well.

32:47: GKIDS already got the rights to Makoto Shinkai’s WEATHERING WITH YOU film, and they’ll be releasing for home video a couple of anime titles.

34:39: Discotek made the following announcements at Anime North:

  • Kemono Friends (first season)
  • Ayakashi – Samurai Horror Tales
  • Sorcerer Hunters (series and OVA)
  • Lupin III: the Last Job special
  • Honey and Clover (both seasons)

36:33: Netflix has made some announcements! They’re gonna bring the second seasons of Kakegurui and Forest of Piano. This somehow leads to Justin suggesting to Helen that she should livestream her parents watching Eva.

38:08: FUNimation added some films to their service. One is Psycho-Pass, the other is Steins;Gate, and then there’s Ghost in the Shell

Weird News

38:58: A wrestler who calls himself Kenny Omega showed up to his job dressed as Kirito. He also wore that to the ring.

39:48: Akira Toriyama was knighted in France, which confused Helen since they haven’t done it in a while.

41:00: The Sonic movie (predictably) is delayed to February. You’ll have to listen to this to find out why Justin was laughing so much at Helen’s unfortunate revelation.

42:37: Uniqlo had a design contest involving Pokemon, but one rule quirk led to no one getting the grand prize

44:40: Sadako is coming. Coming to YouTube in manga format.

46:55: The police somehow found a way to be annoyed at a bunch of likes on a tweet involving Pierre Taki.

48:38: Finally, someone thought they could really walk into a bookstore and take 80 volumes of Detective Conan. Totally acting like there’s no real way the cameras can’t catch you. Yep.
