It's Not My Fault TheOASG Podcast is Not Popular!

Show Notes

0:00: As both Justin and Helen ponder the large episode number count, the two then discuss what they’ve been up to — and it still involves the Fall anime season shows…either some they’re finally getting around to or that ended!

News

22:17: Of course as mostly a manga podcast the first thing the two hosts talk about is Crunchyroll finally ending their manga service. Needless to say, it’s sad, but it’s long overdue due to how much Crunchyroll cared for it (very little).

29:00: KADOKAWA, who has already stated trying to produce 40 anime a year, now is aiming to establish more wholly-owned studios. This sure sounds like a good idea!

31:20: Simon & Schuster has finally been bought, this time by an investment firm. Justin and Helen discuss what this could possibly mean and one of the hosts gives the hottest (?) take about monopolies in this current time period.

35:32: Yuri series Whisper Me a Love Song was planned for this upcoming Winter season, but due to a director change and possibly other production concerns, it’s been pushed to April.

36:28: Voice actor Yousuke Naka passed away at 93; The creator of the most strips published for the same 4-panel manga series, Shoji Izumi, passed away at 91.

Licenses

37:46: 2.5 Dimensional Seduction has been added to MANGA Plus, which is interesting since Seven Seas is releasing the manga in the US; Satoru Noda’s hockey manga Dogsred has been added to Shonen Jump and MANGA Plus…for various reasons it sounds like Justin needs to check it out.

39:10: Publisher Living the Line announced on Instagram they will publish Norikazu Kawashima’s Her Frankenstein manga in Spring 2024

Streaming News

39:38: Spy x Family fans in North America will have a good time next year, as the Code: White film will be in theaters; They’re also now streaming the IDOLiSH7 film.

40:25: This is actually important for whoever will be making a Top 10 anime list: Zom 100 will conclude in 2023! Despite all the delays! As Justin notes, it is indeed a Christmas miracle.

41:40: Ghost Reaper Girl has been on hiatus since May 2022 as Akissa Saike’s health was in question. But now the series has returned…and it came back on Halloween!

42:28: Disney will acquire Comcast’s remaining stake in Hulu for way too much, but now Justin can soon say to everyone that Summertime Rendering is actually on Disney+, since they’re planning on merging the two on one app. This very much implies Hulu won’t be around that much longer…which makes the hosts wonder how the rights for certain shows work out!

Weird News

44:46: The two hosts talk about Junya Ikeda, a VA/actor who has been arrested for allegedly taking part in special fraud. The details are not great, and needless to say, you can see why companies are figuring out what to do with him.

47:20: Justin and Helen discuss a probably printing issue gone wrong, as June Manga’s release of No Touching at All for some people was actually a volume of One Piece! (They did later release a statement about it.)

51:19: John Wick and a Terminator anime got announced on essentially the same day, so yes, what becomes an anime just gets crazier and crazier.

52:51: Yes, it’s possible babies can indeed be voice actors — see Yuuki Kaji and Ayana Taketatsu’s baby making its debut in Attack on Titan!

54:17: Berserk of Gluttony, which is airing this season, will have Takehiko Koyasu and Koki Koyasu in the same show. This is the first time Justin realized he had a son who was a voice actor!

55:25: The legendary Doraemon series will have a brand new volume — it’s been nine years since there was a compiled volume!

56:24: Both hosts are absolutely positive this short anime series using 3DCG and AI that’s been funded from Skyland Ventures will turn out well. It is a short anime so it can’t go too terribly you’d think!

57:10: Welp, the Ghibli Twitter account got created a couple years ago, anddddd it no longer exists. They really showed up for a time and then out of the blue said “peace.”

57:54: Why Justin would have thought for a second this statement involving Shibuya would have to do with the currently airing Jujutsu Kaisen anime, who knows, but no, it was indeed for something totally different.

58:40: And of course, to cap the episode, the Kuso Miso Technique anime will air on April 1. Sure, not like it couldn’t have aired on any other date, but of course it’d be on April 1!
