The OASG Podcast

Show Notes

0:00: The podcast once again begins with Justin apologizing for still playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses despite beating all the routes, before discussing what he’s been reading and watching (Just Chihayafuru). Meanwhile Helen talks about watching Barakamon and what happened when she asked people on Twitter about watching the spinoff to the anime.

News

11:29: Studio Ghibli did not have a ton of their works available for streaming (as pointed out in this week’s Please Save My Money by Krystallina, they did have a few titles on Netflix). Now however, aside from one title, there will be a lot of Ghibli works on upcoming streaming service HBO Max.

13:29: Witch Hat Atelier is getting a spin-off manga! Yeah it involves food, but surely this means Kodansha will bring this over soon, right?

15:13: Somehow, someway, 7SEEDS is getting a S2. Normally an anime getting a S2 is a good thing except no one exactly liked S1. The hosts are baffled.

17:52: Justin and Helen fully discuss the now sudden wave of Weathering With You screenings coming to North America, starting with its debut at AnimeNYC.

Licensing News

19:57: Hiraoki Samura’s Wave, Listen to Me! is getting a print release, which means Helen was way right and Justin was way wrong.

22:44: Drops of God by Tadashi Agi and Shu Okimoto is somehow back! Kodansha and ComiXology will release the series (as a ComiXology Original), and Justin couldn’t be more shocked at its return. Both hosts, however, were surprised about how it was announced.

28:09: Seven Seas once again had their licensing week where they announced a good amount of manga and light novels, from a title Helen’s super ecstatic about to two full color manga titles:

  • The Legend of Dororo and Hyakkimaru
  • Love Me For What I Am
  • Makeup is Not (Just) Magic: A Manga Guide to Cosmetics and Skin Care
  • Penguindrum novels
  • Sarazanmai: Reo and Mabu
  • I Had That Same Dream Again novel and manga
  • Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear novels and manga
  • Love on the Other Side anthology
  • The Invincible Shovel
  • Sazan & Comet Girl
  • My Sempai is Annoying

33:18: futekiya announced they’ve licensed 22 titles for their service for next year, straight from publisher Home-Sha.

34:06: Yen Press announced they’ll be bringing over yet another Shinkai novel! That’d be Weathering With You of course.

35:00: Finally, here’s the announcement that shocked Helen: The Robotech series can be watched on FUNimation. Both hosts discuss the ramifications of this news.

Weird News

37:20: Not much weird news this week, but an amusing misspelling that ties into what Justin and Helen like IS definitely weird news:

And so, yeah, Naruto’s our Emperor now. Those are the rules.
