The OASG Podcast

Show Notes

0:00: Helen discusses her newfound freedom from school and papers to an extent…it involves the Neo Yokio Special. Justin meanwhile brings up an old, popular manga series by Hiromu Arakawa.

7:30: FUNimation had a week…plus another week. The two hosts go over it all, so from their pact with Hulu, to Gen Fukunaga’s comments on Netflix streaming Evangelion, to Gen Fukunaga’s comments on why the partnership with Crunchyroll ended.

14:50: TMS is getting into the streaming game! The two hosts get into this news, if it means they’ll stream Precure, and if they can fix their current issues.

17:00: Once again, Kodansha licenses a title for digital…and what could it mean? It’s getting an anime most likely! Which is what happened with Ao-chan Can’t Study.

18:50: Cinedigm acquired all of Viewster, which also includes their anime service.

20:00: The biggest news of the week — possibly of the year — is VIZ/SJ ending their weekly issues to not only make the series in it free, but add additional series, such as act-age and Jujutsu Kaisen, and make them free…and their current jump starts also free.

Want to catch up to other Shonen Jump titles in their vault? You can do that by becoming a WSJ member! By the time this podcast episode goes up everyone will know what will be available. And it’s only for $1.99 a month. Justin and Helen talk about how significant this announcement is.

31:37: Finally, Helen talks about the Sailor Moon Super Live coming next year.

Licensing News

32:43: Yen Press announced they licensed a spin-off to Konosuba involving Megumin.

33:22: Officially official, Shout Factory and GKIDS announced that they will release Perfect Blue in BD/DVD in March.

35:38: If you’ve wanted to collect No.9 in physical form, heads-up — the license for that series is expiring. So this current run is all that will be out of it.

Weird News

38:22: Sooooo…Attack on Bleach everyone? Also, it’s not the bleach you’re thinking of, but the other type of bleach. For real. Levi is involved.

39:06: The Sonic fandom can be tough to please, and even moreso for them to agree on anything. For the Sonic the Hedgehog film, pretty much everyone in the fandom agreed: the poster, and Sonic’s look, is horrible. What in the world happened?

43:00: Finally, as Justin has zero idea what Valentine’s Day is, Helen explains what happens to Shueisha every time they open up submissions for fans to send chocolates to their favorite characters in Prince of Tennis: They get lots of them…a lot. They ain’t allowing that this year.
