It's Not My Fault TheOASG Podcast is Not Popular!

Show Notes

0:00: The hosts of TheOASG Podcast battle the heat in their respective areas before talking about what they’ve been up to over the past few weeks, which includes one person checking out a yuri manga on MANGA Plus to one person making sure to read the side stories of Dahlia before jumping into the latest volume of Dahlia!

News

9:31: The two hosts discuss SAG-AFTRA finally reaching an agreement with video game companies, which means the strike is now suspended — and the ramifications for voice acting moving forward.

13:46: US publisher DSTLRY will be launching a brand new comic book service in Neon Ichiban next month; Pocket Comics, however, will not be lasting long in most countries, as it’ll be shutting down at the end of October.

17:09: Black Lagoon will be returning after a 7 month hiatus; The Case Study of Vanitas, after over a year, will have a new chapter published in July.

17:59: Yellow Tanabe will be going back on hiatus until the fall season so no more Kai-Hen Wizards for a while; Umamusume: Cinderella Gray will also be on hiatus but it’s preparing for its final arc, so it’ll be back in the middle of July; and Justin and Helen hope everything’s ok with VA Yui Oguri, who suffered a slight concussion a day before an event.

Licenses

19:17: Seven Seas had one more Wonderful Wednesdays announcement round for June before taking a break for the rest of the month:

  • Hyaluron & Daruma’s Koharu and Minato: My Partner is a Girl
  • Eiji Masuda’s They Are Still Being Shaken This Morning
  • Kano Ninomiya’s Exotic Animal Doctor
  • Imomushi Narita’s KILLING ME / KILLING YOU
  • Yuki Kazami’s Sea Melt Lover
  • Two audiobooks for Siren: Yoru Sumino’s I Have a Secret (Narrated by Sara Matsui-Colby) & Ryo Mizuno’s Record of Lodoss War: The Grey Witch (Narrated by Dan Bittner)

20:26: Glacier Bay Books announced a major josei title that looks like a pretty interesting pickup; meanwhile Sentai Filmworks grabbed a Leiji Matsumoto anime in Queen Millennia, which got both hosts once again wondering why Sentai just doesn’t send proper press releases regarding new licenses.

21:23: Crunchyroll has acquired the rights to the latest Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid movie, so it’ll be in theaters at some point in the near future; GKIDS has acquired the rights to All You Need is Kill, which yes, it is based off the novel that was spun as a live-action film called Edge of Tomorrow, just this time it is animated.

Streaming News

22:57: Tougen Anki will stream on a bunch of services worldwide, but apparently it will be the first anime to stream on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Prime simultaneously, which more or less shows how anime streaming continues to change season by season. So a good kind of weird, probably.

25:13: Netflix will stream the second Mononoke film on their service in August; Rascal Does Not Dream of Dreaming Girl is now streaming on Crunchyroll; and we finally got an answer on why Crunchyroll did not handle US rights for the compilation Jujutsu Kaisen films — because they’ll be handling the International side.

26:16: CITY the Animation is still one of Justin’s most anticipated summer shows, but it being exclusive to Prime video will have him make some tough decisions…maybe.

Weird News

27:48: If you thought we were done talking about AI, of course you’d be wrong! We got a feature piece on how AI has essentially carved a role in films for various reasons (cost is one reason), with even the Lionsgate VP making a comment along the lines of how you can use it to make an anime film in three hours. Yes, the state of creativity has been in question for a while, and it will only remain at this rate.

30:35: Megumi Hayashibara made an attempt to make a point regarding tourism in Japan, but it was not a great attempt, which sparked heated discussion in Japan — and eventually a retraction regarding one point she made which caused the most problems. The two hosts get into what she wrote.

34:05: Of course Maomao and Apothecary Diaries would continue to explode in popularity, but for this drink that’s been advertised and with Maomao looking like she really wants to drink it, Helen has…concerns about its taste!

36:04: Finally, the newest Gundam series, GQuuuuuuX, had someone raise concerns about it depicting teen gambling, which…yeah some people were not convinced.
