It's Not My Fault TheOASG Podcast is Not Popular!

Show Notes

0:00: With another long podcast episode to go, Justin and Helen jump right into the news, with Best Buy discontinuing BD and DVD sales not only in stores but online as well next year.

1:36: Over the past year The Vampire Dies in No Time creator Itaru Bonnoki had a number of health issues that required a long hiatus but now he’s revealed he has ossification of the ligamentum flavum, and that’s going to require surgery; Haruko Ichikawa’s Land of the Lustrous will be on hiatus until Spring 2024; it was announced that the “eighth season” of Bkub Okawa’s Pop Team Epic comedy manga will go on a hiatus for now “due to circumstances.” What those circumstances are, the hosts can only wonder; and in final bit of hiatus news, VA Daisuke Hirakawa is going on a short hiatus after having sudden hearing loss.

6:26: A number of Japanese creators and VAs unfortunately have passed way, starting with Miyuki Ichijou, who passed away at 76; BUCK-TICK vocalist and frontman Atsushi Sakurai passed away at 57 due to a brainstem hemorrhage; and manga creator (of Hana-Kimi) Hisaya Nakajo passed away at 50.

Licenses

9:15: Discotek had their Twitch YouTube stream and once again had a lot of announcements that tugged at the nostalgia for sure:

17:38: Seven Seas announced these on their Wonderful Wednesdays:

  • rariatoo’s Noss and Zakuro

19:15: This entire section somehow discusses The Apothecary Diaries finally planned for release in print and Baccano!, which means you’ll want to understand how Helen and Justin brought this up.

23:03: BOOKWALKER is releasing Arikan’s Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World? and Natsumi Inoue’s Sentenced to Be a Hero: The Prison Records of Penal Hero Unit 9004 manga a few months ahead of other stores, but Justin explains some of the weirdness of this announcement, which had to be corrected.

Streaming News

25:22: If you thought the Fall anime season announcements were over, too bad! Crunchyroll added the Reincarnated as a Slime: Coleus OVA to their service.

26:25: HIDIVE added the Blade & Soul MMORPG to their service.

26:48: The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse is airing now in Japan, but no one is streaming it officially — enter Netflix though! They say it’ll be on their service soon.

27:54: The Boy and the Heron will naturally be in theaters, but when you check it out in December, you’ll have the option to hear a stacked English dub cast.

Fall Anime 2023 Season First Impressions, Part 2

29:00: This time, Justin and Helen discuss most of the new stuff from the Fall Anime Season, cry about how much is airing in one season and these companies need to know better to air all these anime, and you get to hear the hosts talk about a bunch of shows. Here’s the list of anime the two hosts either watch or hope to watch at some point (which you can guess Justin is watching most of these):

Stardust Telepath, Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me, My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer, I’m Giving the Disgraced Noble Lady I Rescued a Crash Course in Naughtiness, The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You, After-school Hanako-kun, The Saint’s Power is Omnipotent Season 2, Shangri-La Frontier, Shy, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, I’m in Love with the Villainess, Undead Unluck, Shy, Tearmoon Empire, The Kingdoms of Ruin, Pluto, Overtake!, Bullbuster, Ancient Magus Bride S2 Part 2, Spy x Family S2, Power of Hope ~Precure Full Bloom~, The Apothecary Diaries

Weird News

1:23:24: At this point Helen’s computer had some issues so she lost access to the script. Yes, that’s when you know a podcast episode has gone too long!

1:23:35: Something definitely went wrong in how Yoruichi was cast for the Bleach dub, and the two hosts get into recapping what they know so far.

1:31:14: Meanwhile a good rule of thumb is if you’re not willing to announce the dub cast for a show because there’s major issues, it probably means there shouldn’t be an English dub for it. So Aniplex has much to answer about why they are not able to share the Rurouni Kenshin cast.

1:34:00: Someone…anyone…explain just what Good Smile Company thinks they’re doing with this type of plastic model.

1:35:03: We have Rui Hachimura and a K-Pop group getting heavily involved with Crayon Shin-chan. That series really is popular over in Japan.

1:36:11: And well, apparently looking up a junior high school girl’s skirt is a way to relive stress, if you choose to listen to Yuya Saito. Don’t actually listen to Yuya Saito. (He of course has been arrested for voyeurism.)

1:38:00: Justin and Helen explain that Pokémon trading card games are serious business right now.

1:40:14: Justin and Helen discuss Ikuhara suing a woman who’s claiming plagiarism of a couple of illustrations.

1:43:00: If you happened to know about Noir Caesar and Tezuka Productions doing a KS for Tezuka’s Alabaster in graphic novel format, it didn’t come close to reaching its goal so it’s been cancelled.

1:43:58: Helen has a great time explaining how the Gundam Metaverse had to halt downloads because of security issues.

1:45:06: You’d think there’s a way to avoid Jujutsu Kaisen by not going to the obvious places (Twitter, forums, etc) but since Chapter 236 dropped there’s been spoilers in unexpected places, and here at least one author was so shocked after reading it they went on hiatus!

1:48:56: And finally, the end of Titan (the anime) is finally here. And well, that means we’ll have to say Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3 The Final Chapters Part 2 ONE. LAST. TIME.
