Main Topic: Fall Anime 2022 Final Impressions

10:45: Justin and Helen talk about the Fall Anime season! Which was definitely packed…but was it actually that good of a season? Highlights of the season (to name a few) include Spy x Family, Gundam: The Witch From Mercury (so far!), Akiba Maid War, Raven of the Inner Palace, and at least for Justin, Pop Team Epic S2 cemented itself as one of the best crappiest anime this season. For Helen, one show she checked out…she’s interested in checking out the manga AND it was on Netflix! (Romantic Killer)

Weird News

47:13: Someone out there wanted to do a fake wonder festival for Patlabor, and they indeed they did one.

48:19: Meanwhile Saudi Arabia supposedly has the largest metal statue of a character, and one (or both) of the hosts finds that hard to believe.

49:14: KanColle season 2’s 6th episode got delayed…and for an 8-episode series that already saw a delay AND started later than all the other Fall anime, what is going on over there?

49:50: Seven Seas Entertainment stated on Twitter that Amazon in Europe has made an “environmental decision” to stop purchasing books from the company…and that leaves both hosts confused.

52:05: Megaton Musashi’s last 5 episodes are going to be delayed to February…this also has seen some delays this season as well, so not great.

53:15: One Australian company is about to get the full Pokémon Company legal treatment as they thought they could get away with using the IP for NFTs. Yeah, about that…

54:21: Finally, My Hero Academia will be getting a Netflix/Live-Action film version, and neither of the hosts have high hopes for it!

55:06: Sumire Uesaka’s going to have a Figma based off her…and shockingly enough, she’s the first VA to be a Figma!

55:50: Finally, Justin had to laugh at ANN having the newest Japanese cover posted of Bookworm but then it getting changed after someone in the forums pointing out that it’s a spoiler. Now it’s safe for Justin to look out since had to look away at the news article when it was posted.

Main Topic: Weird News of 2022

58:05: So much weird news happened that Justin forgot was weird news — Remember the whole Tifa becoming an Italian citizen due to what happened at the Senate meeting? Happened this year. That time Shonen Jump’s most popular tweet ever was them saying they’re not doing NFTs (Because they opened up a shop)? Happened this year. Thought Dick Fight Island wouldn’t be trending again? Because it did this year.

We also had some more weird news that was serious (Daman Mills situation); weird production anime horror stories, possibly the strangest involving Uncle From Another World, the funniest that MAPPA will somehow find the time to do a Part 3 of Attack on Titan: The Final Season; and weird that lots of bigger companies are acquiring small to mid-sized companies.

There was also some cool weird news — see: Panty & Stocking getting acquired by Studio Trigger after years and years of the rights making it hard to see that happening — and news that seems ordinary, but you put out a poorly localized manga and then let a pro translator give their critique, that also becomes cool weird news, but just in a different way!

Also, can’t ever forget one of the greatest sports and anime crossovers ever this year. Justin wouldn’t forget it!
