Show Notes

Pandemic News

0:00: The two hosts talk about the continuing issues involving COVID-19 in Japan, including one convention getting cancelled, but there may be some good news on the horizon over there.

News

1:50: We have a situation where we have one anime that fits in this section, the streaming news section, and the weird news section! World’s End Harem has been delayed after its first episode to January…Justin and Helen try and wonder what’s up with that anime, while also thinking how this year has been really a struggle for anime production.

11:00: And finally, Jujutsu Kaisen as we know got really popular once the anime aired. And that definitely translated into manga sales.

Deaths

11:40: A number of people within the Japanese pop culture space passed away, from the legendary creator of Golgo 13 to a not so great dude that’s a part of the Dragon Quest series. That’s why we have a specific section in this week’s episode.

Fall Anime 2021 Impressions

38:58: Justin and Helen once again discuss the new season shows, with Justin going in his strange order (yes that means starting with Yasha-Hime) before talking about Fall anime season shows. Don’t worry, he made sure to not talk about new shows immediately (Begins with Restaurant to Another World S2 and Let’s Make A Mug Too S2 and then later on talks about actual new stuff). If you want new stuff discussion, Helen has you covered with The Heike Story, RUMBLE GARANNDOLL, and Sakugan to name a few.

Justin also wonders with the amount of new stuff he’s picked up, will it be worth it to even bother with Platinum End (at 1:24:35).

Weird News

1:27:33: High Guardian Spice actually has a release date! FreakAngels exists! In other words, CR Originals is definitely still a thing.

1:30:30: The Odd Taxi BD campaign has ended with over 6,000 orders. Remember that this wasn’t even planned to get a BD release, so it sure went places after it’s release!

1:30:54: RightStuf reached their campaign goal for Aria The Masterpiece! So yes, it will be reprinted, though Helen is still confused as to why it had to be reprinted this way.

1:31:26: The Pop Team Epic creator has started a YouTube channel involving their cats…but what’s weirder than this is a Remix version of PTE is airing this season. One of the hosts are wondering why.

1:33:07: One HoloLive performer is on Weekly Playboy’s The Next Generation of Beautiful Women, and Helen…has no idea why.

1:34:00: We got a UFC fighter doing the Attack on Titan salute!…Turns out after reading more about Roxanne Modafferi, she’s very much a nerd.

1:35:03: There’s a camping manual that involves the legendary Golgo 13 giving outdoor tips. This somehow leads to Helen pondering a crossover with Laid-Back Camp, and Justin just doesn’t want this to happen.
