4:14: In Japan the state of emergency has been lifted so we’ll soon see how much can resume over there. The affects of this have been extremely significant, as JP voice actors and actors are not expecting to receive anything close to their usual salary for May based on a survey.

13:50: Justin and Helen go over how the manga and light novel industry has been affected by the pandemic, based on what they know, what’s happened so far and this Publishers Weekly article where a number of industry members share how it’s impacted them. They also go over how virtual cons are becoming more of a thing with Anime Lite and Aniplex doing one in July.

26:25: Since the hosts didn’t explain them properly, Honeyfeed is a webnovel community that will be releasing 3 titles that were considered the best out of qdopp’s World Novel Project Competition:

Justin challenged Helen to come up with a shortname for the title that’s bolded. You will have to let us know if the title for this podcast is an acceptable shortname for that web novel.

29:37: At the halfway point of the manga and LN sales charts in Japan this year, not surprisingly Demon Slayer is at the top of the list. Justin, however, is stunned at just how much it’s just selling compared to everything else.

33:49: After 10 months, the KyoAni arson suspect has finally been arrested. To point out why he hasn’t been arrested, he got himself hurt in the fire and laws in Japan state that a suspect must be medically able to stand trial.

38:08: Kaiten Books announced they’ve licensed Wataru Akashingo’s My Dad’s the Queen of All VTubers?! & Kanko Nakamura’s Uzamaid: Our Maid is Way Too Annoying!

40:47: Manga Planet announced a title a few Sundays ago called Missile Bird. They then went to Cloud Matsuri this past Sunday and announced they’re gonna be releasing a couple Nobuyuki Fukumoto titles to their service this month:

  • The Legend of the Strongest, Kurosawa!
  • Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji
  • Gambling Apocalypse Legend Zero

Futekiya was also at Cloud Matsuri and they announced they will add Volume 2 of Tamekou’s You’re My Sex Star & Maki Marukido’s Zoku Pornographer Playback to their service, and they have licensed Harada’s One Room Angel and Sawa Sakura’s Momo to Manji.

45:06: B the Beginning is coming as an Ultimate Edition to the US!…From Anime Limited, a UK company. Justin and Helen wonder what this means, since A) this is a Netflix title and B) it’s rare to get these types of releases.

52:00: Daisuke Ashihara will release the latest chapter of World Trigger where part of it is a rough draft. Justin understands that he and Jump SQ talked about it and he’s recovering…but it really would’ve been fine to wait another month.

53:50: Despite everything seemingly working against it, the Sonic the Hedgehog film is getting a sequel. The only thing we can say at TheOASG is congratulations, and Justin was extremely wrong.

55:04: Dude that created Eva celebrated his 60th birthday in the most dude that created Eva fashion: with an Ultraman pose…that took multiple retakes.

56:05: Redraw Reigen has been a thing…now we have Redraw Sailor Moon!
