Some of these shows I will miss, others…not so much, but it does always feel good to start a new anime season, and for me, October can’t come any sooner, even if I have to avoid all the big franchises that return next month.
Astra Lost in Space Episode 11
One of those shows I will miss will be this one, as it has been constantly good week after week. Strong character designs and surprising bombshells have kept me hooked on this, and desperate to see what’ll happen next.
Here in episode 11, Charce goes into great detail about who he is really, why he was selected for the role, and why his blind faith in his king overrules everything. Charce turns out to be the clone of his king Noah, and that his only purpose in life is to succeed in his mission: to eliminate the remaining clones. Kanata punches some sense into him, and pays a big price for doing it.
This space trip has changed everyone, and watching this episode has shown that. When this show began, Ulgar and Quitterie were both absolute jerks who really did not want to be there, Yunhua was an emotionally suppressed girl who was too afraid to do anything for fear of being called out, and Luca was just too happy-go-lucky to care about anything. In the space of 11 episodes and travelling 5,000 light years on an abandoned rusty ship, they managed to become a family unit of their own, rescuing an astronaut in the process, discovering they are all clones, and that what they have been taught may not have happened at all.
It is also this week where something is confirmed that we sort of knew already: Aries is a clone of Princess Seira after all, and was smuggled out by a royal maid to live a normal life. I can’t believe it took me this long to realize something that was right in front of me: Aries spelled in reverse is Seira.
I believe that this week’s episode was padded out with this long story, to hype us up for next week. You see, next week’s finale of Astra Lost in Space is to be a double-length episode, meaning it’ll be an hour long, just as the opening episode was. Now that we’ve reached this far, having a feature length episode to round everything up is a smart move, as they can’t afford to miss anything out here. Us followers of the show are wondering how they’ll arrive home, and what’ll happen to their ‘parents’. I’ve already formulated a couple of theories in my head of what could potentially happen, but they’re staying in my head.
Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru? Episode 11
While I will miss Astra Lost in Space, one show I won’t miss is this one. It’s become a show I wish I never picked in the first place. Maybe my original thought way back in July was that I just wanted to pick this show for a laugh; to see if a show with a premise as ridiculous as this would make me giggle. It has instead made me cringe hard, and I will be glad to see it go.
This week, everyone rings in the New Year, with the four schoolgirls attending a local shrine that turns out to be devoted to the god of muscles. No prizes for guessing who turns out to be the shrine priest. I mean, Machio destroying his clothes to reveal his massive muscles was funny the first time, but now we see it around 3 or 4 times per episode, it just becomes boring.
Even these edutainment moments aren’t really that exciting to watch; in this case, it is getting exercise by climbing stairs.
The second part of this week’s episode turns out to be devoted to the girls (and Tachibana) reliving their roles as local idols – in this case, it is for a New Year’s live TV broadcast, where they are meant to perform some kind of original talent in order to win ratings that are currently being won by high-budget historical epics on other TV channels.
Sitting on your colleagues’ stomach is meant to be entertainment, of course…you have no idea how much I won’t be missing this show. Please don’t sit on other peoples’ stomachs.
Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files Episode 11
As for how I feel about Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files? I don’t really know what to say. If I were a hardcore Fate fan, then perhaps I’d have a totally different (and biased) opinion, but since I’m not, and am only just getting into the franchise, I can’t really say if I’ll miss it or be glad to see it end.
To call this a niche show for the devoted would be an understatement. Even though I ended up rewatching episodes 9 and 10 before this, I was still rather confused on what was happening. This perpetual state of confusion is probably what is preventing me from labeling this a good show.
The Mystic Eyes auction on the train finally takes place this week, and every passenger has decided to get their check books out to pay vast amounts of money for these Eyes that they may or may not end up using in the future. In the mean time, El-Melloi, Gray and Olga-Marie are still determining the results of the Policies department, and whether Trisha’s murder was exactly how it was written in their report. This case has started to become more personal for El-Melloi now, as he tells Olga-Marie the truth about how he obtained his relic: he ended up stealing it.
*I have no idea if Troyca did this intentionally or not, but I still laughed when El-Melloi said this this week*
This has been a beautiful show to watch, don’t get me wrong. I just am disappointed with the fact that, in order to really really enjoy it, one has to be a devoted Fate fan in order to understand everything. It sucks, because this could have been something that could have brought in new Fate fans. Next week, I’ll go into more detail on this, but in the meantime let’s move on…to a show that I will definitely miss.
O Maidens In Your Savage Season Episode 11
The events of last week’s episode have brought some pretty big consequences, for everyone. In case you missed it, the bombshell last week was that one of Rika’s classmates, a girl she used to look down on for her promiscuity, has had to leave the school after finding out she’s pregnant. Now before, this would be something that have Rika siding with the school, but it seems now she has a boyfriend, and has some sympathy for those exploring the world of sex, she ends up objecting…only for news to come out that she and Amagi were spotted by someone outside a love hotel. This was all a result of them tailing Hittori, who as we all know, went to a love hotel with Milo.
Like some of the other shows I’ve been watching this season, O Maidens In Your Savage Season has brought us some big bombshells, but I did not see what happens in this episode coming at all, and it’s something I don’t want to spoil, as I’m pretty sure it’s something that’ll be expanded on in next week’s finale episode. Kazusa still feels rotten for feeling like she’s in some kind of race with Niina to take Izumi’s heart, Hittori blames herself for what she did to Milo at the love hotel, while Momoko is reeling from Niina’s reaction to her confession. I can’t quite believe this show is ending, and I don’t want it to end. But all good shows know when to end.
I know that Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files has 13 episodes, however next week will be my season review post since every other show is ending next week.
