Back in February of this year I talked with Laura Mehaffey, head librarian of the Carolina Manga Library. With over 4,000 unique items, Laura and a group of dedicated volunteers use the traveling library to bring manga, graphic novels, and other reading materials to fans across the United States who otherwise might not have access.

Needless to say, the mobile library has a lot to haul along to every convention — and now they need your help! From now through the end of May, manga fans can help support the Carolina Manga Library on a their quest for a permanent vehicle and funds to keep the library going via their IndieGoGo campaign. Perks for backers include manga review requests, convention passes, and Skype sessions with famed anime voice actors like Crispin Freeman.

You can donate to the Carolina Manga Library over at IndieGoGo, with more information below:

For those in the Chicago area, the Carolina Manga Library will be making a guest appearance this weekend (May 20-22) at Anime Central, one of the largest anime conventions in the Midwest. Be sure to say hello!

Further information on the Carolina Manga Library can be found on their website (including information on donations), and you can also follow them on Twitter and on Facebook.
